A History of Leadership in the ISBA

In his career, Stephen M. Komie has practiced law throughout Illinois, building relationships and serving in leadership positions that provide him with the experience necessary to lead the ISBA. As an ISBA Assembly member since 1985, a member of the Board of Governors for 23 years, and a member and Chair of multiple Section Councils, Committees, and Task Forces, he understands the issues that Illinois lawyers face both upstate and downstate. With his experience, dedication, and passion for protecting the rights of Illinois attorneys, he can provide the leadership that will help the ISBA serve the legal profession in the coming years.

  • Author of the “Attorney Bill of Rights” for expungement of ARDC complaints, which was adopted by the Illinois Supreme Court
  • Represented the ISBA as an ambassador to the rededication of the Magna Carta at Runnymede, England in 2015
